Planing on going to Lisbon?! A few tips! (part1)

I share with you a few places I´ve been in  Lisbon, that I really enjoyed:

MONUMENTS

I begin with two extraordinary and magnificent churches.

São Roque church and museum:

I will not tell you about the complete History of this magnificent monument, but I can tell you that inside, you can visit the most valuable chapel of the world!!!!
This Jesuit Church, was built in 1553, it has an architectonic simplicity that was used as a model by other Jesuit Churches built later in Brasil, and in the Far East. In 1768, nine years after the expulsion of the Jesuits, the Church was donated to the Santa Casa da Misericordia (Holy House of Mercy).

Inside be prepared for an explosion of colours, and precious materials! Various magnificent Baroque chapels ornamented by gilded wood, amazing sculptures, and marble of different colours will delight you…
You will also have the opportunity to see a unique Chapel in the world: Saint John the Baptist Chapel – it was commissioned by our king John V to Italian architects, and built between 1742 and 1747.
The Pope celebrated a mass inside this chapel and then, it was dismounted and brought to Portugal. It´s made of Gold, Lapis-lazuli, Alabaster, Amethyst, Carrara Marble and many more precious stones…
I also visited the Museum and I discovered amazing Portuguese and Flemish paintings and incredible treasures…
Santa Catarina Church:

The Saint Catarina church it´s a secret that foreigner travellers and Portuguese people normally don´t know. It was built in the second half of the XVII century and rebuilt after the earthquake of 1755. It’s a baroque church and inside you can see one of the most magnificent stucco ceilings I ever had the pleasure to observe.

The size, colours and details of that ceiling are impressive…You will have the privilege to see the most impressive baroque organ which is a masterpiece of gilded woodwork.
On the side walls are large paintings in gilded frames, some of them by Vieira Lusitano and André Gonçalves, two of Portugal's top 18th-century painters.

DINNER OR LUNCH
JNcQuoi:

If you want to go to a fancy and trendy place, have a cocktail, a lighter dinner, or even a more formal dinner, don´t miss the Restaurant JNcQuoi: Bar, 2 restaurants, DJ, shops (ladurée, Fashion Clinic, Assouline books)!
I really enjoyed everything: the décor, the Deli Bar, the shops, the music and the atmosphere!

Palácio Chiado:

An extraordinary XVIII palace was restored, and each room is a different restaurant: you can find here 7 restaurants! I went to Farrobodó restaurant – typical dishes and snacks, and I liked. They were not the best I ever tasted, but the room where I had dinner (covered with paintings) transports you to another time. The music was also good and everything contributed to a different experience.
